Built on the success of the previous year’s exhibition, this time New Alumni focuses on four recent graduates working in cross-disciplinary fields within the creative industries that impact on our environment and community. Open to the public from the 21st February to 15th March 2019, the New Alumni exhibition will coincide with Greenwich Portraits in the adjacent Stephen Lawrence Gallery. The exhibitions complement each other and showcase the University’ support for both new and longstanding alumni.

John Joseph Watters graduated from Greenwich in 2015 with an MA in Landscape Architecture. He has been since working at Tower Hamlets-based practice Kinnear Landscape Architects (KLA). With a portfolio of innovative projects, KLA boasts established experience in the public and private sectors working with Architecture led teams. JJ’s work ranges from ambitious green infrastructure strategies to the detailed design of small urban spaces. His MA project was featured in the 2018 International Landscape Architecture Biennial. Several of JJ’s drawings have been published in Paul Cureton’s book: Strategies for Landscape Representation.

Grace Diggens is a producer on multiple award-winning digital advertising projects and installations around the globe. Since graduating with a BSc in Digital Animation at the University of Greenwich in 2013, she worked her way into a production position at the Oscar-winning visual effects house, Framestore. There she managed the development of projects ranging from large scale digital signage to device-based apps. Grace’s work can be found amidst the bustling streets of Tokyo, to the bright lights of New York’s Times Square—many of which will be live for years to come. Currently based in New York, Grace is now working as technical producer at Fake Love, the New York Times’ digital agency.

Marilia Lezou is an MA Architecture 2018 graduate at the University of Greenwich and the winner of RIBA’s 2018 Serjeant Awards for Excellence in Drawing with her project Hotel Mollino, which explores scenography as an ‘art of building’ and theatre productions as architectural thinking. Marilia’s work questions the relationship between environment and spectator. As a result, the object is explored through the architect’s gaze: a vehicle through which the hidden can emerge and be examined. Marilia is also co-founder of London-based OWMI Studio, a design studio that focuses on a range of architectural, digital, conceptual and artistic projects which seek to implement playful and experimental aspects to designs.

Rhiannon Ashley graduated from the University of Greenwich with a BA in Media and Communications in 2015. She currently works for environmental charity Hubbub, running playful and innovative behaviour change campaigns to engage with a mainstream audience. Rhiannon is exhibiting stills from two of the campaigns she has recently worked on: Love Where You Live and For Fish’s Sake. The Love Where You Live campaign tackled fly-tipping by supporting community groups to turn the alleyways between their houses into cleaner, greener spaces. Last summer, For Fish’s Sake nudged Putney locals to stem the flow of litter into the Thames. The campaign featured fishy-themed floor art, a community gallery, play and work near the river, and voting bins asking topical questions.
