Four alumni from the MA Landscape Architecture programme at the University of Greenwich, Rowan Case, Ed Gant, Sarah Tolley and Arlene Decker, have won the Designing the Urban Commons competition, organised by Theatrum Mundi. Their proposal CarbonSync, which set out new spaces for urban commoning was selected by an international jury, including: Richard Sennett (Theatrum Mundi), Sarah Wigglesworth, Amica Dall (Assemble Studio), Francesca Ferguson (Make City Festival), Justin McGuirck (Strelka Press) and Ricky Burdett (LSE Cities). Their proposal will be exhibited at the London School of Economics and at the Make City Festival in Berlin.
Since graduating in 2013, Ed, Sarah and Arlene joined landscape practices Arup, Levitt Bernstein and Turkington Martin respectively. Rowan currently works at Burwell Deakins. This is also the second recent competition success for Sarah Tolley who in 2014 won Landscape Institute competition for the Royal Docks.
