LSE Cities is delighted to host an event on the role of ruins in the remaking of cultural as well as urban heritage, with a special focus on the restoration of Astley Castle. Our platform in this rich debate includes Witherford Watson Mann architects, the Landmark Trust, and Sir John Soane’s Museum.

Introduction by Anna Keay from The Landmark Trust with a presentation from Stephen Witherford and William Mann of Witherford Watson Mann architects.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion with Richard Sennett, Professor of Sociology, LSE, Abraham Thomas, Director, Sir John Soane’s Museum, Anna Keay, Stephen Witherford and William Mann, chaired by Ricky Burdett, Professor of Urban Studies and Director, LSE Cities.
