Many national landmarks across the US are reopening after being shut down for several weeks. New York’s Statue of Liberty and the Grand Canyon in Arizona were closed after the federal budget impasse in September caused the closure of the country’s National Parks. The two landmarks have reached deals with the federal government while Mount Rushmore will also be reopening after a deal was struck between corporate donors and the National Park.
The National Park Service is a significant employer of Landscape Architects in the US – the exact number employed is unavailable at the time of writing this article as the National Park website is also shut down due to the budget problems.
