Last month the first phase of Governors Island was officially completed. The master plan, designed by West 8 following an international competition, is being built out in several phases. The Trust for Governors Island is leading this ambitious redevelopment of the 180 acre island on the southern tip of Manhattan – with public space and parks at the core of the plan. West 8 beat teams led by Field Operations, Hargreaves, and Rex.
